Mr. Isah Abubakar, President, Northern Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), has attributed the rising wave of insecurity in the country to the fact that criminals, like Boko Haram and bandits, are taking advantage of weak government to perpetuate evil.
Abubakar said that due to the current state of the nation anybody could decide to migrate to other countries as Nigeria had got to the level of a failed state where anarchy had become the order of the day.
The youth leader. in a chat with The NEXT EDITION on Monday, said that the criminals realised that the country had become porous.
He stressed that with the level that Nigerian had fallen in terms of security, anyone desiring to leave the county could be justified as there was nothing to hope for anymore.
He said: “Everything that would make one leave this country has happened in this dispensation, so anyone that migrates is justified.
“The hoodlums carrying out these heinous acts, have tested the country and have realized that the country lacked leadership, a porous and empty country, which is why they carry out their criminal acts at will.”

Abubakar further said: “They understand that our security architecture is weak, the President is weak, all of them are empty. They are free to do whatever they like at will and nobody will question them. It was very easy for them to abduct that large number of students without anyone stopping them.”
Abubakar maintained that President Muhammadu Buhari had failed Nigerians and disappointed the citizens who voted him into power, lamenting that the Commander-In-Chief of the Armed Forces, the president had not been in charge of leadership.
According to him, “Buhari is not in charge of the government. We have governors who are weak too, and do not even know the reason they are in power, in order to make money and live a good life.
“They don’t care about the legacy they should leave behind. The possibility of having a Nigeria of our dreams is fast slipping off our fingers. We need character reformation, behavioural change, institutional reform, and we need the help of the fourth estate of the realm to achieve that.
“We need the media to help Nigerians out of this quagmire. There must be commitment on their part to expose illegality, institutional corruption and administrative misconduct.”
