The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, RCCG, Enoch Adeboye, on Wednesday reiterated his commitment to the views and positions of the umbrella Christian bodies in the country on national issues.
He made the comment in reaction to the recent protest by some musicians at the RCCG Redemption Camp, calling o him to speak on national issues especially insecurity.
Adeboye’s reaction is coming on the heels of a reaction from the Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN, which frowned at the actions of the protesters, whom they admonished to leave Adeboye alone and take their protests to government whose responsibility it was to secure the lives of Nigerians.
In a statement released by head of RCCG Public Relations, Olaitan Olubiyi on Wednesday, Adeboye stressed that the umbrella Christian organizations are the mandated authorities to speak on issues affecting the Church and the nation as a whole and that he and the RCCG align with their positions on such issues.
Adeboye, noted that the Christian bodies have spoken on the issues of kidnapping, killing of Christians, herdsmen attacks and general insecurity in Nigeria and that his position and that of the RCCG was not different from their views.
He also pointed out that in his duties as a Pastor and spiritual father to millions of people, he regularly leads the congregation to pray about the problems confronting the nation at all major programmes of the Church.
The General Overseer pointed out that being quiet does not mean being silent, saying that he has made his views on the issues of concern to the protesters known to all the relevant authorities and that very soon, Nigerians will see that God answers prayers.
He called all to remain calm and maintain the peace.
