The Imo State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has declared a seven-day fast and prayers to seek God’s intervention in restoring the mandate of the former governor of the state, Emeka Ihedioha.
A statement issued by the Party’s State Secretary, Ray Emeana, on Saturday disclosed that the exercise would kick off on Sunday, February 9 and end on Sunday, February 16, 2020.
The statement read in part: “during this period, all ward excos should request for mass in their local churches and assemble at LGA party secretariat daily at noon for prayers and breaking of fast.
“Prayer point is asking God to intervene and restore the victory of Emeka Ihedioha as the duly elected governor of Imo State.
“We enjoin the Imo people to remain peaceful and prayerful as we await judgment on the review filed by the winner of the governorship election, Hon. Emeka Ihedioha at the Supreme Court.”
Furthermore, the statement said the party members in the state should dress in black during the seven days fast and prayers.
Recall that the Supreme Court had on January 14, in a unanimous verdict nullified the election of Ihedioha as governor of Imo State and declared Hope Uzodinma of the All Progressives Congress the duly elected winner of the March 9, election in the state.
Meanwhile, Uzodinma is out of the country as part of President Muhammadu Buhari’s entourage to the 33rd Ordinary Session of the Heads of State and Government of the African Union (AU) in Ethiopia.
