A Federal High Court sitting in Owerri, Imo state capital has dismissed a suit filed by Senator Sam Anyanwu challenging the emergence of Emeka Ihedioha as the governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party in the just concluded elections.
Ihedioha is the governor elect of Imo State.
Anyanwu who is currently representing Imo East senatorial district at the Upper Chamber, had approached the court seeking to have Ihedioha’s victory nullified while he Anyanwu is declared as the authentic winner of the primary election.

He had alleged that Ihedioha engaged in over voting, and thuggery, which he claimed led to his (Ihedioha) victory in the election.
In his judgement, Justice Tijani Ringin said the plaintiff did not convince the court on the prayers he sought for. He also said from the allegations of Anyanwu, the court could not establish the fact in his claims and therefore dismissed the suit for lack of proof.
Recall that the Ihedioha had polled 1,723 votes to defeat his closest rival, Anyanwu, who scored 1,282 votes at the primary election conducted in Owerri.
