The Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Emmanuel Udom, has sacked the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Mr. Udo Ekpenyong.
The sack was with immediate effect.
According to the Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Mr. Charles Udoh, in a statement issued on Friday, and made available to The Next Edition, the sack came as a minor reshuffling of the state cabinet.
No further details were given for the sack.

It would be recalled that the sacked commissioner was sworn in on December 1, 2016 as a result of a cabinet reshuffle after the administrations one year anniversary.
The statement announcing the sack reads:
“The Akwa Ibom State Governor, Mr. Udom Emmanuel, has effected a minor reshuffling of his cabinet. By this development, the Hon. Commissioner, Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Hon. Udo Ekpenyong, has been relieved of his portfolio with immediate effect.
“The Government of Akwa Ibom State thanks Hon. Ekpenyong for his services to the state while serving as a member of the State Executive Council and wishes him well in his future endeavours.”
