Police Operatives in Benue State have foiled a kidnap attempt on the Bursar of Federal University of Agriculture, Makurdi, (FUAM), Mr Emmanuel Timothy.
The police also arrested a suspect, Terwase Paul Agbem, popularly called TAP, Chairman and CEO TAP Group for allegedly masterminding the attempted kidnap.
The suspect, Terwase was arrested alongside his accomplice, Mson Yaasa, on the 22nd of May, 2021 at about 1200hrs following a tip off.
The Next Edition gathered that men of Operation Zenda led by the Commander, CSP Justine Gberindyer, had raided their hideout at Hallydays Hotel and Resort in Ankpa Quarters, Makurdi and arrested the suspects.

Explaining further in a statement, the Police Public Relations Officer, (PPRO), DSP Catherine Anene said, “Following information about the regrouping of a kidnap gang in Makurdi, a team of Police officers were deployed to trail and arrest the suspects.
“On 22/05/2021 at about 1200hrs, these suspects had assembled at Ankpa Quarters, Makurdi and perfected plans to carry out their nefarious act when the operatives invaded their hideout and arrested the kingpin, one Paul Terwase Agbem also known as Top of Gwarimpa, Abuja and one Mson Yaasa of Adikpo, Kwande Local Government Area.”
She said during interrogation, the suspects confessed to have completed plans on the same day to kidnap a staff of University of Agriculture, Makurdi, who allegedly refused to pay him money for the contract he executed in the school.
Anene said efforts are in progress to arrest the fleeing suspects.
Meanwhile, a Police source who didn’t want to be named said the suspects were alleged to specialize in organizing high profile kidnapping of politicians and wealthy personalities within Abuja and Makurdi and other states in Nigeria before they were arrested.
The police source said the kingpin, Agbem Terwase, had given the sum of N100, 000 to boys from Adikpo, in Kwande LGA of the state, to carry out the plan after he had taken them round to show them the Bursar’s house, office and the vehicle he uses.
