As the world marked the 75th anniversary of the Holocaust on Monday, a non-governmental orgnaisation (NGO), Istandwithisrael International Organisation (IIO), has called for more collaboration of the Nigerian government with Israel to flush out the Boko Haram from its territory.
In a media briefing and seminar to mark the 75th anniversary of Holocaust in Lagos on Monday, Pastor Rex Ajenifuja, Executive Director, Istandwithisrael International Organisation, maintained that the Israeli government had been willing and ready to assist Nigeria in dealing devastating blow on the Boko Haram terrorists if it was properly approached.
He recalled that during the former President Goodluck Jonathan administration, the Boko Haram insurgents was brought to check through the assistance of Israel, but lamented that the President Muhammadu Buhari’s government could not capitalise on the already existing arrangement to push the issue forward for greater success in the war against the insurgents, hence it festered.
Ajenifuja stated: “The Israeli again offered to help us, but the current administration refused. If Boko Haram knows that Israel has been involved in the war against it, that will be the end of the insurgency because they know what Israel can do.
“With the number of Nigerian Christians going on pilgrimage to Israel and that country’s relationship with the Christian bodies in the country, Israel will be happy to collaborate with Nigeria to deal a devastating blow to Boko Haram.”

While lamenting the continued killing of Christian leaders by the Boko Haram in the North, Ajenifuja stressed further: “Israel will be interested in teaching and helping Nigeria to combat terrorism. Ametokun will be a childsplay. President Muhammadu Buhari administration cannot properly handle terrorism in Nigeria. Nigerian military now is a mixed multitude.
“How many are the Boko Haram terrorists that the Nigerian military cannot handle? How many are they that they can attack a whole battalion of the Nigerian Army? I believe that several people in the military are moles. There are enemies within. That is why the Nigerian Army has been finding it difficult to take Boko Haram.
“We support the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) in demanding that President Muhamadu Buhari should replace all the Security Chiefs. They have failed Nigeria and the military. Nigerians, especially the Christians, should stand up and relate with Israel.”
Ajenifuja, who maintained that with the Boko Haram attacks, the herdsmen killings and banditry in parts of the country, Nigerian should form a strategic alliance with Israel and there would be a difference in the war against terrorism in the country, adding that another Holocaust may be imminent in Nigeria if the Federal Government continued to dilly dally on the issue.
He maintained that what led to the Holocaust was anti-Semitism, leading to the killing of over six million people, saying that the loss was colossal as such a number of people would have been a blessing to the world and mankind, hence people all over the world should join hands to battle terrorism.
He also maintained that Nigerians, especially the Christian bodies, should be making the pilgrimage to Israel strategic, instead of what he termed as the current practice of seeing it as purely religious and tourism ventures, whereby they do not engage the Israelis.
Pastor Deepak Dhargde, an Israeli cleric, who was part of the programme, wondered how the human spirit was not extinguished in the Nazi death camps, and called on mankind to continue to preserve and defend the freedoms of the whole human family, especially Jews and Israel, and work against the repeat of such mass killing of people as witnessed during the Holocaust.
