Angered by the murder of another Nigerian in South Africa, the Nigerian Mission in the country has called for a probe into the incident.

According to a statement issued in Abuja on Sunday by the Vice Consul Information and Culture, David Abraham, on Sunday in Abuja, Tochukwu-Lawrence was killed at 10 Koppe, Middleburg, Mpumalanga, South Africa, on July 6.

“An eye-witness account has it that an unknown man made a way into the compound of Mr. Ozumba Tochukwu-Lawrence and requested to see him.

“On being told about his guest, he came out to meet him, and the man opened fire on him and shot him six times, resulting in his death before he could reach the hospital.

“The reason behind the sad incident is yet to be established, but this is very unfortunate and condemnable,” Abraham said.

While requesting that the police and other relevant agencies should apprehend the killers, Abraham implored all Nigerians to cooperate with the police and judicial officers in their investigation and prosecution.

He added:  “The Nigerian Consulate will continue to advance the welfare and security of Nigerians in South Africa.

“We also call on our citizens to remain calm and eschew violence, as we seek to obtain justice for the deceased and members of his family.”
