Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom, has directed the Head of Service to immediately commence implementation of the interim agreement his administration reached with labour leaders on payment of N30,000 minimum wage to civil servants on grade levels one to six.
The Governor stated this in a press statement signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Terver Akase, and made available The Next Edition in Makurdi.
Recall that in the year 2020, state government during a meeting with labour, had agreed to implement the new minimum wage for civil servants on grade levels one to six.

It was also agreed that implementation for civil servants on grade level seven and above would be put on hold pending further discussions after detailed cleaning of the payroll.
Ortom who met with the labour union leaders on Tuesday appreciated them for their understanding and reaffirmed his commitment to implementation of the agreement.
He assured Benue workers that the present administration would continue to give priority to their welfare while addressing other challenges of development.
