Akwa Ibom State Governor, Mr. Udom Emmanuel, has flagged off the construction of road in Okoroete in Eastern Obolo Local Government Area of the State.
Addressing a rally at the St. Silas Primary School, Okoroete, on Thursday, Gov. Emmanuel informed the people that the road had been awarded for construction earlier, but the Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC, moved their equipment to the site.
He announced that the state government has mobilised Nigerpet Structures Ltd for the construction, and assured that the project would be ready for commissioning within a few months.
Gov. Emmanuel also assured the people of his commitment to revamping the health and education sectors of Eastern Obolo as a way of reducing the mortality rate and aiding better living of the people.
He thanked the people for coming out en-masse to declare their support, assuring them that his Completion Agenda has provisions for youths’ empowerment and job creation.
Earlier in his remarks, the Director General of Divine Mandate Campaign Organisation, Idongesit Nkanga, thanked the people of Eastern Obolo for standing for the truth and what is right.

He said, “We came in 2015 and you gave us your support and today, I’m glad to tell you that we have not disappointed you. There was a time Eastern Obolo had only one road, but today, there is development in the area.”
Nkanga maintained that Gov. Emmanuel has given peace which he said, breeds development, and urged the people to continue to stand for peace and embrace development.
Goodwill messages from the Council Chairman, Victoria Tallick, and Chapter Chairman, Victor Gamaliel Oromene, reiterated the readiness of the people to repeat what they did in 2015, saying that Eastern Obolo is a reliable place and totally in support of the PDP, working assiduously to deliver Gov. Udom Emmanuel and other PDP candidates in the forthcoming elections.
The chapter youth leader of Eastern Obolo, Festus Sunday, commended Emmanuel for eradicating poverty from the area and putting food on the tables of the teeming youths.
