On Tuesday, Governor Dapo Abiodun hosted this year’s Big Brother Naija winner, Laycon and appointed him the Youth Ambassador for the state.
The Next Edition earlier reported that the Governor also gifted him five million naira and a three-bedroom bungalow.
The governor’s gesture received criticisms from people who felt the gesture was a misplacement of priority.
Joining some of the people who criticised the Governor, Nigerian gospel artist, Wale Adenuga slammed him for his acts in a post shared on his Instagram page on Wednesday.
He wrote, ”I’m totally disheartened by the Governor of Ogun state making the winner of #bbnaija an ambassador of the state, rewarding him further with cash and a house.
“No thanks to you sir for further entrenching the sad narrative that we are a nation that rewards trivialities and mediocrity.
“Our values keeps going to the dogs!”
