Speaker Benue State House of Assembly, Mr. Titus Uba, has condemned the attack on Governor Samuel Ortom describing it as unfortunate, and unwarranted.
Governor Samuel Ortom was attacked Saturday morning on his farm at Tyo-mu along Makurdi -Gboko road.
The Speaker who expressed shock at the unfortunate incidence wondered why such incident will take place in the heart of a state.
Uba, in a statement signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Wuese Orshi, stressed that the attack on the governor was not unconnected with Governor Ortom’s stand on the strict adherence to the anti-open grazing law, which suggested ranching of animals as best practice for animals husbandry.

He then wondered why it was difficult for the herders to adopt the current normal way of cattle rearing as championed by the Benue state governor, but instead have resorted to mounting a violent attack on him.
The Speaker condemned the attack in strong terms and enjoined the governor not to be distracted by the unfortunate incidence and continue to defend his people against all odds.
He thanked God for sparing the life of the governor and charged Benue people to sustain prayers for the Ortom-led government to continue on the path of excellence.
