Former Group Executive Director of the Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), Mr. Chris Ogiemwonyi, has unveiled his nine-point agenda for the development of the Edo State if elected as next Governor of of the State.

Ogiemwonyi, declared his agenda for the state on Saturday during an interview with journalists in Benin.

The former minister of State for works, said security of lives and property would be a priority in his administration if he receives the mandate of the people in the upcoming election in the state.

He also said people with disabilities would be given positive recognition and their welfare taken care of in his administration.

Other areas of focus if elected according to Ogiemwonyi would be in the areas of education, preventive healthcare delivery, agricultural development, solid mineral development, infrastructural development, effective public service delivery, sports development and rural-urban development.

He promised to effectively diversify the huge potential of the state in mineral resources, rich agriculture, oil and gas, arts and crafts, other natural endowments and the strategic location of the state.

The former NNPC boss said his administration would make youth employment a priority and would also the fight against poverty.

The ultimate objective of his administration, he said would be the make Edo State the commercial hub of the South South in particular and the country in general.

On the crisis rocking the state chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Ogiemwonyi said that leaders and stakeholders of the party were waiting for the reconciliation committee headed Senate President Ahmed Lawan.

Also speaking on the recent establishment of regional security outfits, Ogiemwonyi condemned the move saying the regions should have a rethink as such outfits could become tools in the hands of politicians and highly placed individuals to deal with opponents.

He also contended that the creation of the regional would scare investors away from most states where they exit as it had the potential of serving as a new and dangerous concept in terrorism.

He called on Gov. Godwin Obaseki to set up a probe committee to thoroughly look into the alleged recent bombing of residential buildings and offices of some leaders and members of the ruling party in the state.
