The home of the former Senate President, Mr. David Mark in Otukpo, Benue State has been razed by fire.
According to a press statement issued by an aide to David Mark, Mr. Adakole Elijah, the fire burnt two vehicles and over 15 motor cycles before it was put out by Fire Service personnel.
He thanked God that the fire was put out before it spread to other parts of the house saying no life was lost.
Meanwhile, Journalists gathered that the incident was caused by fire from a nearby bush bordering the fence of his guest house.
A source in the house who didn’t want to be named said the fire spread so fast when it caught some empty cartons in which some motor cycles were assembled.
The source said workers made frantic efforts to put out the fire before the arrival of men of the fire service.
“We made every effort to quench the fire but the more we tried the more it continued to spread. It was when we noticed that we could not stop it that we called fire service,” the worker said.
Efforts to reach any member of his family proved abortive as none of them was available.
The former Senate President was also said to be out of town at the time of filing this report.
