Over 100 shops in Otukpo main market, in Otukpo local government area of Benue State has been gutted by fire.
A supervisory councilor of the local government in charge of Finance and Revenue, Shedrack Abu who disclosed this on phone said the fire destroyed property worth over N50 million.
Narrating the incident on phone, Abu said the latest fire is the second within this year, 2020.

He said when the fire started on Wednesday morning, it took the swift intervention of men of Fire Service Department to put off the fire which lasted several hours, adding that the cause of the inferno is yet to be ascertained.
According to him, several building materials, electronics and plastic materials were destroyed by the fire.
