FIFA Ranking: Nigeria Now 33rd

Nigeria’s Super Eagles are now placed 33rd in the world football ranking according to the just released July FIFA ranking.

They moved up 12 places from their 45th position prior to the just concluded Africa Cup Of Nations tournament, AFCON, in Egypt.

In the ranking table released on Thursday, Nigeria pulled 1, 481 points as against 1, 433 it had in June.

Based on the latest ranking, Nigeria, which won the bronze medal at the AFCON tournament, are now placed at number 3 in Africa behind Senegal and Tunisia, who are placed 20th and 29th in the world, respectively.

AFCON winners, Algeria moved 28 places in the ranking to the 40th position.
On the world stage, new South American champions, Brazil, moved one step up the ladder to the 2nd while France moved down one step to take the 3rd place position.

Belgium leads the pack with 1, 746 points.
