Dr Ogbonnaya Onu, the Minister of Science and Technology, on Saturday said his ministry would partner Yobe Government to train youth entrepreneurs to facilitate economic recovery of the state.
Onu made the promise when he paid a courtesy visit to Governor Ibrahim Gaidam in Damaturu.
According to him, home grown technology is key to sustainable economic growth and pledged the ministry’s commitment to assist the people of the state.
The minister said the ministry would establish incubation centre to enable young entrepreneurs learn skills about small and medium enterprises.
“The ministry is committed to providing the people with skills to give them new life to be gainfully employed and to be employers of labour,’’ he said.
According to him, the ministry is working towards making Nigeria a knowledge driven economy.
Responding, Gov. Gaidam commended the minister for the initiative and pledged the state’s commitment to fulfil its obligations in the partnership.
He said government had provided a site for the establishment of the incubation centre.
The governor said the scale of damage done to public and private structures was enormous for government alone to handle.
“We appreciate the interventions made by government and non-governmental organisations in our resettlement, reconstruction and rehabilitation efforts,” he said.
