The Governor of Ekiti State, Ayodele Fayose, on Thursday reacted to the threat by Governor-Elect, Kayode Fayemi, that he would be probed upon resumption of work as governor.

Fayose said he was not afraid of the victimisation and vendetta that Fayemi might be planning for him.

While stating that Fayemi would be consumed by the vendetta he was planning, Fayose said he should first seek legitimacy for his stolen mandate.

The reaction of Fayose is contained in a statement issued by is media aide, Lere Olayinka.

The statement reads:  “It is obvious that he will be consumed in his vendetta mission and rather than grandstanding, Fayemi should first seek legitimacy for his stolen mandate.

“He (Fayemi) should stop living in the world where threat of probe scares people because we in the government of Fayose are not afraid of victimisation and vendetta that Fayemi is obviously coming with….

“Even yesterday (Wednesday) when he went to collect the certificate of the mandate that was snatched and handed to him by the powers that be in Abuja, he had to be protected by police helicopter and hundreds of armed policemen. One wonders how he is going to rule the people they forced him on.”

Fayose warned that if Fayemi embarked on a vendetta mission he would first destroy himself “because like Ekiti and its people survived him during his first tenure, the people will outlive him this time too.”

Fayemi disclosed the plan to probe Fayose on Thursday in Abuja.

He said it would be irresponsible of him not to carry out a probe of the administration.

He however said it was not about individuals but the need to ensure good governance.
