Falcons Crash out of Women’s World Cup

The Super Falcons of Nigeria on Saturday ended their campaign at the 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup, in France.

They lost 3:0 to Germany.

At 20’ minutes, Germany scored their first goal through an Alexandra Popp header.

The second goal for Germany came as a result of a penalty awarded against Nigeria’s defender, Evelyn Nwabuoku, who fouled a German player inside the box.

The penalty was played and scored by Sara Dabritz.

At the end of the first half, scores stood at 2-0 in favour of Germany.

In the second half, the Super Falcons improved their game and seemed more confident but, however, failed to score.

Schueller of Germany at the 82nd minute, added to the woes of the Falcons as she pounced on a mistake by Nigeria’s Halimat Ayinde and smashed the ball into the bottom corner.

Germany, will face the winner of the Sweden – Canada clash, which is scheduled for Monday.
