Lagos-based lawyer and human rights activist, Mr. Femi Falana, has begged President Muhammadu Buhari for a birthday gift as he clocks 60 years old: Free all illegally detained persons.
Falana made the request while thanking the president for the goodwill message he sent on the occasion of his birthday.
Stating that he felt humbled by the kind words the president sent to him, he urged him to grant his request of having all illegally detained person in the country released.

His words: “I thank President Muhammadu Buhari for his wishes and prayers for me, but the birthday gift which I humbly ask from the Federal Government is more commitment to respect for human rights and rule of law.
“In particular, all Nigerian citizens, who are being detained illegally in the country should be freed without any further delay.”
In a statement issued to congratulate Falana as he clocked 60, on behalf of his boss, Mr. Femi Falana, the president’s media aide, described the lawyer as an outstanding patriot who had remained committed to fighting for the rights of Nigerian, especially, the less-privileged.
