The deposed Baale of Shangisha, Yusuf Ogundare, and his wife have been ordered remanded at the Kirikiri Prison by a Lagos State Magistrate’s Court in Ogba.
The couple and brother of the baale, Mohammed Adam, were arrested for allegedly masterminding the baale’s kidnap.
Their stay in prison is pending the perfection of their bail conditions.
It would be recalled that on July 5, 2017, Adam reported to the police that his brother, Ogundare, had been kidnapped.
Investigation by the police however revealed that the baale was seen driving in Oyo, Osun and Kwara states.
Ogundare, Adam and the baale’s wife were later arrested and paraded by the police.
They were brought to court on Thursday on three- count charge bordering on fake kidnapping.
The accused person pleaded not guilty and their counsel, Glory Odimayo pleaded the court to grant them bail assuring that they would not jump bail.
The plea for bail was however objected by the prosecutor, Peter Okerinmodun.
He argued that granting the bail might cause a breakdown of law and order in Shangisha, their community.
In his ruling on the bail application, Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. T. Akanni granted bail to each of the defendants, in the sum of N2m with two sureties each in the like sum.
Akanni, cited Section 155 of the Administration of Criminal Justice Law of Lagos State 2011 which gives the court the power to decide whether or not to grant bail in the circumstance.
She stated however that the sureties must consist of a traditional ruler and either a person with registered property in Lagos or a Grade Level 17 officer in the state public service.
The case was adjourned till August 23.
