Emirs Of Kano, Bichi Lose Mother At 80 Years

Hajiya Maryam Ado-Bayero, mother of the Emirs of Kano and Bichi in Kano State, has died at the age of 80 years after a protracted illness.

Alhaji Yusuf Nabahani, the Madakin Kano, confirmed the death in a statement on Saturday in Kano.

He said that the deceased, who was the eldest surviving widow of Late Ado Bayero, died early Saturday in a hospital in Cairo, Egypt.

Nabahani, who is also the Chairman, Kano emirate kingmakers, prayed to God to grant her mercy and abode in Aljannah Firdaus and urged the public to pray for the deceased.

He said that the funeral arrangements would be announced in due course.

The deceased was a princess and elder sister to the present emir of Ilorin, Alhaji Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari.
