Twenty-seven of the released prisoners, including one female, were set free unconditionally, while 7 were granted bail on liberal terms.

One of the freed inmates received financial support to enable him return home.

Speaking during the visit, Justice Daramola commended the Correctional Officers for taking good care of the inmates, keeping them healthy and robust.

He also lauded the officials for maintaining a clean and hygienic environment.

However, the Chief Judge lamented the prosecutorial system in Nigeria, which he said lagged behind international best practice, thereby contributing significantly to prison congestion in the country.

He charged the inmates to be of good behaviour because the long arm of the law was awaiting any erring citizen.

The new Comptroller of the center, Mr. Alimi Abdulrasheed thanked the CJ, describing his visit as worthwhile.
