As Muslims in Benue State mark the Eid El Maulud celebration, the birth of Prophet Mohammed, Governor Samuel Ortom has charged the Muslim Community in the State to use the celebration to pray for the peace, security and economic growth of the country.

The Governor also thanked the Muslim Community for their continued support and cooperation, and tasked them to continue to respect the laws in force in the State.

He assured them that his administration shall continue to uphold the religious rights of every citizen and provide enabling environment for the sustenance of peace and harmony amongst all those living in Benue State.

Ortom said he is happy that Benue is free from religious and political crises and said his administration is committed to securing the lives of its citizens.

The governor enjoined Muslims in the State to offer special prayers for peace in the state in particularly and in the nation in general in the face of the current security challenges in different parts of the country.

In a statement signed by his Principal Special Assistance, PSA, Media, Nathaniel Ikyur, Governor Ortom said his administration is committed to maintenance of law and order for the safety of lives and property of the residents in the State.

Meanwhile, the Speaker, Benue State House of Assembly, Mr. Titus Uba has urged Muslim faithful to remain prayerful for the sustenance of peace, unity and progress of the Country.

The Speaker Uba in a statement signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Wuese Orshi noted that, the Islamic event is remarkable and reinvigorates the virtues of love, tolerance, sacrifice, charity, faith, obedience and peaceful co-existence, which are the deeds and teaching of the Holy prophet Mohammed.

He said for Nigeria to surmount her security challenges, the citizens must see themselves as Nigerians first and learn to live in harmony with one another irrespective of Political, religious and ethnic diversities.

The 2023 Benue Governorship hopeful expressed warm felicitations to Muslims across the State and indeed Nigeria and wished them a peaceful and pleasant celebration.
