The Supreme Court has dismissed the case filed by the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, governorship candidate in the last election in Edo, Osagie Ize Iyamu, challenging the victory of Godwin Obaseki of the All Progressives Congress, APC.
This decision of the court therefore confirms Obaseki as the duly elected governor of Edo State.
The verdict was, on Monday, given by a seven-man panel of judges led by the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Walter Onnoghen.
The reason for the verdict, according to the court,m would be given on July 24.
It would be recalled that the case filed by Ize-Iyamu suffered a similar fate in April when an election petition tribunal dismissed it as lacking merit.
The tribunal was headed by Ahmed Badamasi.
Ize-Iyamu also lost the case at the Appeal Court where he headed after the tribunal.
He later went to the Supreme Court, where he has also lost his case.
