After keeping him for seven days, the Department of State Services, DSS, on Tuesday released the Abuja Bureau Chief of the Daily Independent Newspaper, Anthony Ezimakor.
He was released at about 10.30 p.m.

He was detained following his report in the newspaper giving details of how senior officials of the DSS were said to be profiting from the ransom made to the terrorists group, Boko Haram, by the federal government.
Ezimakor, it was gathered, refused to divulge the source of his information despite the detention.
