A 33-year-old driver, Chijioke George, who allegedly defiled his neighbour’s daughter, was on Wednesday docked before an Ikeja Chief Magistrates’ Court.
The accused, who resides at Alhaji Ajadi Street in Egbeda area of Lagos, is facing a charge of defilement.
The Police prosecutor, Clifford Ogu, told the court that the accused committed the offence on January 14 at his residence.
Ogu said that the accused lured the 11-year-old girl into his room under the pretense of offering her food.
“He, thereafter, pushed her to the bed, covered her mouth and defiled her.

“The girl told her mother what happened and the case was reported at the police station,” he said.
Ogu said that the offence contravened Section 137 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
The accused, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.
In her ruling, the Chief Magistrate, Mrs Taiwo Akanni, granted the accused bail in the sum of N500, 000 with two sureties in like sum.
She said that the sureties must show evidence of tax payment to the Lagos State Government.
Akanni said that the case file should be duplicated and sent to the office of the Director of Public Prosecutions for advice.
She adjourned the case until February 5 for mention. (NAN)
