Senate President, Ahmed Lawan on Wednesday assured that the delay in getting President Muhammadu Buhari’s ministerial list for screening would not affect the passage of the 2020 Appropriation Bill.
Addressing State House correspondents after a meeting with Buhari at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, he insisted that there was no cause for worry.
“I think there is nothing to worry us deeply. The budget itself is normally prepared by civil servants, the permanent secretaries superintend it and the directors will work on it most of the time.
“I believe that we are still on course and I believe the Executive and the Legislature are on the same page on this. We desire and are prepared and determined to pass the budget by the first and second week of December, by the grace of God, provided it is presented to us end of September.”
On the issues discussed with the President during the meeting, the Senate leader simply said they talked about things that would ensure better protection for the people of Nigeria and better performance of the nation’s economy for the benefit of everyone in the country.
The Senate President was accompanied to meeting by House of Representatives Speaker Femi Gbajabiamila.
