The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Adams Oshiomhole, and some chieftains of the party, stormed Kano State to welcome former Governor of Kano State, Ibrahim Shekarau, to the party.
Shekarau defected from the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, to APC during the week.
He complained of being unfairly treated in the PDP.
Shekarau, who co-founded APC in 2014, had earlier left the APC, annoyed that the party leadership was given to former Governor Rabiu Kwankwaso at the time.
Speaking during the visit, Oshiomhole said nobody could be said to be more progressive than Shekarau.
“I am extremely delighted to be in your midst because it is an opportunity for me to meet and reunite with you.
“We have come to reunite with a friend, comrade and a real Progressive in order to move our party forward.
“From your lifestyle and what you did for Kano State, nobody can claim to be more Progressive than you. We know it is condition that make crayfish bend.”
Oshiomhole said his return to APC would not bring development to Kano State alone, but to the country in general.

He said the history of APC would not be complete without due reference to Shekarau.
Speaking at the occasion, Governor Abdullahi Ganduje of Kano State promised a cordial relationship with Shekarau.
“I am the happiest person in the state because the dream has come true as we have always been good friends and brothers,” Ganduje said.
Shekarau expressed gratitude to the leadership of APC for the visit.
Also present at the occasion were Sen. Kabiru Gaya; Sen; Jibrin Majiya and the Senior Special Assistant to President Muhammadu Buhari on National Assembly Matters, Abdurrahman Kawu-Sumaila, among others.
