Hope that the former National Security Adviser, Sambo Dasuki, may be released before the end of the year was dashed on Thursday as the hearing of his case has been adjourned till January 25, 2018.

The adjournment of the case was by the Supreme Court where Dasuki has filed a suit to compel the federal government to release him, having been granted bail by a lower court.

Dasuki had filed a suit asking the apex court to compel the federal government to obey the orders of lower courts, granting him bail.

Dasuki was arrested following allegation of illegal possession of arms and involvement in money laundering.

In December 2015 his house was raided by the Department of State Services (DSS) in Abuja where some firearms and cash were seized.

He was subsequently arraigned at the Federal High Court, Abuja.

Although he was granted bail by Justice Adeniyi Ademola, the DSS has refused to release him.

The government has explained that his continued detention was because of other ongoing investigations into alleged fraud perpetrated by Dasuki while he occupied the office of the national security adviser to former President Goodluck Jonathan.
