The Nigeria Customs Service, NCS, Federal Operations Unit, FOU, Zone D, Bauchi, says it seized contraband valued at over N42 million in the last two months.
This was disclosed by the Comptroller of FOU Zone D Bauchi, Mr. Olugboyega Peters, at a press briefing in Bauchi on Friday.
The Customs Service Federal Operations, Zone D Bauchi, covers nine states which include Adamawa, Bauchi, Borno, Gombe, Yobe, Taraba, Plateau, Nasarawa and Benue.

According to Peters, between February 1 and May 7, operatives of the zone seized 1,819 bags of rice, 250 jumbo bags, 700 cartons of spaghetti, 12 jumbo bags of used footwear and 612 used tyres with a total Duty Paid Value, DPV, of N42.12 million.
The Comptroller, who solicited the assistance of the public in providing genuine information that would help end the activities of smugglers in the country, credited the seizures to intelligence gathering, sharing of information and doggedness of the officers and men.
He warned those engaged in smuggling to look for decent means of livelihood.
