The House of Representatives member, representing Egbeda/Ona-Ara Federal Constituency, Akinola Alabi, has advocated for the reopening of the nation’s airports.
In a tweet on his Twitter handle on Wednesday, Alabi also called on the Presidential Task Force on COVID-19 to allow interstate travels.
He suggested that those should form the next phase of the easing of lockdown.
The tweet read: “Next phase of easing lockdown. Allow interstate travel. Then open the airports and introduce some safety measures.”

Recall that the country’s airports and airspace were shut in March by the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), in the wake of the Coronavirus outbreak in the country.
President Muhammadu Buhari had ordered the closure as part of measures to contain the spread in country.
The directive grounded all commercial flights both local and international, allowing only the operation of essential flights.
The initial directive by the President was extended on May 6, by another four weeks by the Chairman of the Presidential Task Force on COVID-19, and Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Boss Mustapha.
