COVID-19: NCDC Records 126 New Infections, 2 Deaths

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) on Sunday confirmed 126 new Coronavirus infections and two deaths in the country.

The disease control body announced this on its official twitter handle late on Sunday.
According to the body, the new cases were recorded in 11 states and Abuja bringing the total number of confirmed cases to 58,324.

Out of the fresh cases, the FCT recorded the highest number with 30 new cases followed by Lagos and Rivers states with 24 and 23 new cases respectively.

Other states with new infections are; Ogun – 13, Katsina-9, Plateau-9, Ondo-6, Kaduna-4, Kwara-4, Imo-2, Bauchi-1 and Edo-1.

The NCDC also disclosed that 72 patients who made full recovery were discharged on Sunday bringing the total discharges across the country as of September 27 to 49,794.

Furthermore, it stated that the country recorded two coronavirus-related deaths, pushing the total fatalities to 1,108.

Meanwhile, the health agency said two new laboratories had been activated for inclusion in the its Molecular Lab Network.
They are the Osun State University Multidisciplinary Research Laboratory, Osogbo, and Nasarawa State Diagnostic Laboratory, Lafia.

According to NCDC, testing at any laboratory in the NCDC network is free.
