Development Area (LCDA), Lagos State, on Friday expressed satisfaction at the resettlement site being constructed for the displaced traders of Katangowa Market.
Arogundade, while inspecting the site in Lagos, said the exercise was in fulfillment of his promise to ensure that trading continue unhindered following the demolition of the market in February.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the Katangowa Market was
demolished in preparation for the construction of an ultra-modern ICT
Park in the market site.
“The result is what we all witnessed here today, as the developer is working assiduously to construct a temporary trading site at affordable prices for traders to continue their trading, pending the completion of the ICT Park.”
According to him, stakeholders’ meetings have been held with leaders of the market to ensure they understand the development plan on ground and follow due process in procuring resettlement allocations in this temporary site.

Also, Mr Damian Ayamina, Chief Executive Officer, Bridgeways Global Projects Limited, the developer handling the project, thanked the council chairman for his support in incorporating the traders into the state government’s plan.
“The ICT Park that is about to be constructed is the permanent home
for the present Computer Village.
“It was designed to house shopping plazas in five different sizes, four banks, housing estate with 128 two bedroom flats, warehouses, security post and community market mall which comprises lock-up shops.
“It will contain open stalls to accommodate original traders of Katangowa Market,” Ayamina said.
According to him, modern utilities and infrastructure will also be in place for conducive trading.
He said this was why the state government embarked on road expansion, Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) line and construction of bridges to ensure easy accessibility from different channels and corridors to the ICT
Park.
The developer said that the project would be completed in two years, while the temporary trading site would be ready within 46 weeks.
