Chairman of the presidential task force on COVID-19 and Secretary to the Federal Government of Nigeria, Boss Mustapha, did not issue any statement apologising to the public over the disregard of social distancing measures during the burial of the former chief of staff to President Muhammadu Buhari, Abba Kyari.

Some media platforms on Monday reported that Mustapha made an apology in a statement which he personally signed.

The flagrant disregard of the social distancing guidelines issued by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) during the burial of Abba Kyari, who died from coronavirus related complications, on Saturday had angered many Nigerians who didn’t hesitate to voice their displeasure.

However, a tweet on the verified Twitter handle of the Federal Ministry of Information and Culture on Monday enjoined the general public to disregard the statement describing it as fake.
