The total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in the country has risen to 55,456.
This followed the confirmation of 296 more infections on Tuesday by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC).
Similarly, the number of deaths increased to 1,067 with the death of six persons arising from the disease.
The NCDC in an update on its official Twitter account on Tuesday, further revealed that the number of patients who have made full recovery from the disease rose to 43,334 on the day in question.

Of the 296 cases, Plateau recorded the highest number with 183 cases, followed by Lagos and the Federal Capital Territory with 33 and 25 cases respectively.
The rest are; Ogun (16), Oyo (7), Ekiti (6), Kwara (5), Ondo (5), Imo (3), Anambra (3), Nasarawa (3), Rivers (2), Gombe (2), Edo (2), Akwa Ibom (1).
