Fifty thousand poor households have been selected to receive food items and cash as palliative measures to mitigate the effects of the lockdown imposed on the state to stem the spread of the Coronavirus in the first phase of the programme in Kano State.
This was made known by Governor Abdullahi Gabduje at the distribution of the items to beneficiaries on Thursday.
The recipients were drawn from the eight local governments and 11,000 polling units that make up the metropolitan Kano.

Each benefitting household received a bag of rice, a carton of spaghetti, macaroni, Dawavita, four litres of oil and cash gift of N2,000.
Ganduje explained that a total of “300,000 poorest of the poor households” have been earmarked to benefit from this palliative measures by the state government “as it begins with 50,000.”
