Antonio Conte is clearly not happy with the board of Chelsea football club for not doing enough in the transfer market. The blues got off to a wrong start by losing to Burnley at Stamford Bridge.
However, two games after, Chelsea look like a title contender again. Despite their impressive performances against Tottenham Hotspurs away and Everton at home, the Italian is still not happy with the lack of depth in his squad.
Unlike last season, Chelsea is in four competitions this season and will aim to win all of them. The worry for Conte is that his squad has become thinner than last season. Many players, who would have been fielded in the Capital One Cup in order to rest big players for bigger competitions, have either been sold or loaned to other clubs.
Conte usually cuts a frustrating figure while fielding questions from the media about the close of the transfer window on August 31.
He has repeatedly said “I expect the club to make more signings.” Chelsea’s board on the other hand doesn’t seem to be on the same page with him.
Another headache for Conte is Diego Costa. Costa, despite been told by Conte that he is not part of his plans this season is still officially a Chelsea player. The continuous delay of Costa’s transfer from Chelsea to another club by the board, would only add to the manager’s frustration.
Despite Chelsea’s brilliant display of recent, bookies are still putting their money on Conte to be the first manager in the English Premier League to< quit his job or get fired this season. Chelsea’s activities in the next three days may decide Conte’s future at the club.
