A prominent community leader in Akure North Local Government area of Ondo State, Chief Imole Adio has tasked Governor Rotimi Akeredolu to introduce modern technologies in his fight against kidnapping.

Adio of Aiyede/Ogbese community in the council area, said Ondo State, especially Akure North local council area, had suffered incalculable losses owing to the activities of kidnappers.

He particularly reacted following last weekend’s release of his abductedniece, Mrs. Olayinka Omotayo; an experence he described as harrowing, which nearly claimed the life of the victim.

” Olayinka, a social mobilisation officer/ health educator in Akure North LG was kidnapped on January 6, 2022, during a medical outreach of vaccination to Kinyo Fulani camp, Ayede-Ogbese, Akure North Local Government, Ondo State

“Persons suspected to be Fulani herdsmen intercepted her vehicle and kidnapped her, making her to trek long distance to nowhere inside the bush, amid debilitating physical assaults.

“She spent close to a week in the dungeon of her abductor, and was tortured on daily basis.

“While her abductors demanded a huge ransom in cash, the security agencies too took to the trenches, trying to rescue her.

“At the end of the day, the police were able to scare away the kidnappers after exchange of gunfire, and my traumatised neice, after the experiece, spent over three months in the hospital, to reclaim a normal human shape,” the chief recalled.

According to the community leader, Governor Akeredolu has done sufficiently well in founding the Southwest Security Network, code-named Amotekun.

“However, I will urge Mr. Governor to earnestly fulfill his promise to bring in various modern gadgets to battle insecurity and enhance intelligence effort, the Chief appealed.
