Nigeria’s multiple award-winning author, Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie and Patrick Lumumba, renowned Kenyan activist, will be the special guests at this year’s Face of Okija cultural pageant, the 5th in the series, scheduled to hold on Saturday, December 29, at the ObiJackson Sports Arena, Okija, Anambra state.
The Face of Okija cultural pageant, a biennial event, was established by the ObiJackson Foundation in 2013, with aim of “addressing the degenerating moral standards of the young generation in our present day society.”
This year’s event will include a pageant among other activities, aimed at promoting and portraying the rich African culture, with special focus on the Igbo heritage.
Afropop star Davido and Nigerian rapper Zoro are expected to thrill the guests at the event which will be hosted by Bovi, Funnybone and Ojinika.

The Nkpokiti dancers, Igbo Jaa Ogene Group, Atilogwu dancers, Obi Troop (Hunter’s dance) and Ohafia war dancers are also expected to perform at the event.
The highlight of the event this year will be the presentations by Ms. Adichie and Professor Lumumba on the theme of the event: ‘Re-Engineering our morals the African way.’
The event is also expected to showcase a special feature on the ObiJackson Women and Children’s Hospital and the ways in which the hospital is transforming maternal, neonatal and child health care in Nigeria.
