The stage has been set for a mouth-watering FA Cup final between Manchester United and Chelsea as they both qualified on Saturday and Sunday respectively.

Manchester United on Saturday defeated Tottenham Hotspurs 2-1 at Wembley, while Chelsea defeated Southampton on Sunday in the same stadium by two goals to nil.

In the first semi-finals played by United and Tottenham, it was the team from London who drew first blood by scoring in the first half.

It was a goal nicely setup by Christian Eriksen and finished by Dele Alli.

In the second half, Manchester United pulled one back through Alexis Sanchez and minutes later scored the winner through Andrea Herrera.

The second semi-finals did not produce a goal in the first half despite Chelsea seeing more of the ball and pressing Southampton deep in their half.

It was in the second half Chelsea broke the deadlock.

A cross from Cesc Fabregas was nicely controlled by Eden Hazard and set up for Olivier Giroud who finished off in a Maradona style, by beating about four defenders including the keeper to score the opener.

In the 80th minute, Alvaro Morata was introduced and in less than three minutes, he scored the second goal to make it 2-0.

Antonio Conte who has never won any domestic cup has another chance of winning his first as he comes up against a stubborn Manchester United team managed by Jose Mourinho who hardly loses finals.

This will be the second finals in a row for Chelsea, as they lost to Arsenal in last season’s FA Cup final.

Jose Mourinho would surely be the one to defeat his former club to lift the only trophy for Manchester United this season.

Failure for both mangers
