It is said that two wrongs cannot make a right! This saying is very true, but sometimes people really feel that they have to punish with another wrong of their own before they could forgive the other person. Is revenge the best approach or option? That depends on the way the issue is handled. Revenge may or may not bring more hurtful moments, that again depends on the people involved. The Next Edition went out to sample opinions on the above topic. Here are their responses.

The question is: Would you cheat on your spouse to punish him or her?

Chioma Eze:

“No!!! cheating on him is not a good thing, because I am arming myself instead what I’ll do when I find out that he is cheating on me. I’ll take time to study myself to check where the fault is coming from and if it is from me I’ll apologize and make amends. But if it is not from me I’ll simply conclude that he doesn’t love me and the best thing to do is to quite.”

Chichi:

“Nope, that is wrong as it is said two wrongs can’t make a right. Instead, I’ll call my spouse and we’ll talk about the issue and if he refuses to change then, I’ll move on with my life. Truly speaking, cheating back is not the best.”

Valentine Kingsley:

“No! if I’ve a wife and I realize she is cheating on me. All I’ll do is to try and make her stop by asking myself if I am the cause or not. I’ll then try to be closer to her than before to avoid a repeat of that, I’ll not chase her away or push her aside.”

Efe Nosa:

“If na mi e happen to hmmm!!! Guy, I no fit shout base on say, baba God no go let am happen lik dat 4 my side. According, to bible wer talk say na only adultery fit mak you shun you wife, but say you want forgive her base on dat matter dat nah on how your heart tak carry am. On how your heart no fit carry am, bro mak you bounce.”

Olubunmi Oke:

“I would not revenge, I would only advise him to change but if he doesn’t I’ll take it as if it is in his nature to do that. So, instead of staying in the relationship with him I better let him be and take my leave, while I let his conscience judge him.”

Olumide Bamigbose:

“For me, if a woman cheats on me and I find out. My revenge is to let go and breakup the relationship for good.”

Tobi Abodunrin:

“Nope!!! Because cheating on my spouse would not change anything.”

Blessing Essien:

“It is not okay to cheat in revenge, instead I’ll do something worse than cheating to make him feel the pain.”

Elizabeth Ovi:

“No, but there are other punishments worse than that for him in return. Like what? Never mind. I would be closer and nicer

to him more than before so much that he would be sober and he would be dying of guilty conscience.”

Cheating in revenge is neither good nor would it change anything, rather it would make the situation even worse. Being able to sit your spouse down and talk about the issue that led to the cheating is even better. Most spouses enjoy the ample time, communication and attention given to them by their spouses rather than expensive gifts. So, it is imperative to find time to be with your spouse, talk about different issues that would make the relationship grow strong, and, most of all, have time to pray together. Prayers do help relationships.
