Although Burna Boy was at the event, he stepped out before the award was announced and had to be represented by his mother, Bose Ogulu who also doubles as his manager.

“Thank you very much BET, thank you, Africa. That is the constituency for which we got noticed. The message from Burna would be that every black person should please remember that you were Africans before you became anything else,” she said.

BET Awards also gave late rapper, Nipsey Hussle, a Humanitarian Award for the work he did to help the people in need before his untimely death.
