President Muhammadu Buhari has commiserated with the family of the former Senator John Shagaya over his death.
Shagaya died in an auto crash at the age of 75.
In a statement issued by his media aide, Femi Adesina, President Buhari described him as a great Nigerian whose legacies would live on in the patriotic work he did as a military officer.

The president said that Shagaya rose to the position of a General, and a distinguished Senator of the Federal Republic.
He said he represented the Plateau Southern zone very well as a senator.
According to him, Shagaya brought his deep convictions and discipline to national, regional and community assignments.
The president prayed that God would comfort all who mourned him and grant his soul eternal rest.
