Buhari meets IBB, Obasanjo, others as Council of State meeting holds

President Muhammadu Buhari will on Thursday, play host to former presidents of the country and other top functionaries as the Council of State meeting holds.

Expected at the meeting which holds at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, are former President Olusegun Obasanjo, former President Ibrahim Babangida, former President Shehu Shagari, former President Goodluck Jonathan and former military Head of State, Gen. Yakubu Gowon (rtd.)

Also expected are former Head of State, Gen. Abdulsalami Abubakar (rtd.), former Chairman of the defunct Interim National Government, Chief Ernest Shonekan, and Vice President Yemi Osinbajo.

The Senate President, Bukola Saraki; Speaker of the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara and all living former Chief Justices of Nigeria will be present too.

The governors of the 36 state of the federation and the Attorney General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami, will also attend.

Key national issues will be discussed at the meeting.

The council advises the president on key national issues as they relate to the exercise of his powers.
