Residents of Oke-Ode area of Abule-Egba, Lagos were thrown into panic on Sunday evening following the explosion of a pipeline belonging to the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation.
The explosion was said to have been caused by vandals, who allegedly ruptured the pipeline in a bid to siphon fuel.

The Director-General, Lagos State Emergency Management Agency, Dr. Oluwafemi Okeosanyintolu, confirmed the incident saying; “There is a fire incident at Oke-Odo. We are already coordinating.”
The Director-General, Lagos State Fire Service, Magret Adeseye, also confirmed the incident saying three fire service stations had been deployed in the area to curtail the fire incident.
She also said there was no recorded casualty as at the time of reporting.
