Within the space of a few hours, the number of persons infected with the coronavirus in Nigeria rose from 70 to 81 with the confirmation of 11 new cases.
Earlier on Friday, at about 8p.m, the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) had announced the confirmation of five new cases which raised the number of cases to 70.
However, by 11.55p.m, it announced the confirmation of 11 additional cases bringing the number of cases to 81.
Out of the 11 new cases, Lagos accounts for 8, Enugu 2 and Edo 1.
The tweet by the NCDC read: “11 new cases of #COVID19 have been reported in Nigeria: 8 in Lagos, 2 in Enugu & 1 in Edo State.
“As at 11:55pm 27th March, there are 81 confirmed cases of #COVID19 reported in Nigeria. 3 have been discharged with 1 death.”
