Borno State Government has extended the curfew in Maiduguri for another seven days.
It remains from 8.00 p.m. to 6.00 a.m.
The announcement was made on Friday by the Commissioner for Information, Dr. Muhammad Bulama, on Friday.
He said the curfew was extended to January 12 based on the advice of the military.
Said he: “The state government hereby announces the extension of the rescheduled curfew time earlier announced 8:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. every day by another one week.
“In other words, the prevailing curfew regime is to now last until Friday, 12th January, 2018.”
The commissioner said the extension was to enable the military complete its special onslaught against the terrorists group, Boko Haram, and maintain the success it has recorded.

He added: “Government therefore urges all indigenes and residents of Borno State to see this temporary measure as part of necessary sacrifices we all have to make in the interest of peace, stability, development and progress of not only our dear state, but Nigeria as a whole.
“The understanding, support and cooperation of the general public is highly solicited in the observance of the curfew.”
It would be recalled that the curfew in Maiduguri metropolis was reviewed from 8:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. as against the existing 10:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. on Monday.
Bulama had in the statement announcing it said the curfew was temporary and would be between January 2 and January 6.
The purpose of the action, according to him was to enhance security in the metropolis.
He also disclosed that it was based on the advice of the military who are executing the war against insurgency in the area.
