The Nigerian Army has rescued some of the girls declared missing during the Monday attack on Government Girls Science Technical College, Dapchi in Yobe State by members of the terrorists group, Boko Haram.
No fewer than 50 Dapchi school girls were said to be missing as at Tuesday when a head count was conducted.
However, latest report indicated that some of the Dapchi school girls have been rescued by soldiers.
It is not yet known whether all the girls were rescued.
The Director General to Yobe Governor on Press Affairs, Alhaji Abdullahi Bego, who made the disclosure on Wednesday said the rescued girls were still with the Army.
His words: “The Yobe State Government hereby informs the public that some of the girls at Government Girls Science Technical College (GGSTC) whose school was attacked by Boko Haram terrorists last Monday have been rescued by gallant officers and men of the Nigerian Army from the terrorists who abducted them.
“The rescued girls are now in the custody of the Nigerian Army.
“We will provide more details about their number and condition in due course.
“His Excellency Governor Ibrahim Gaidam, who is very grateful for the gallantry and hard work of the officers and men of the Nigerian Army involved in the operation, is monitoring the situation closely and will make a statement in due course.”
It would be recalled that President Muhammadu Muhammadu has directed the military and other security agencies to take over the security of the school.

The president also sent three of his ministers to the state for an on-the-spot assessment of the situation.
The Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, made these known on Wednesday when speaking with State House correspondents shortly after the Federal Executive Council meeting.
The ministers sent by Buhari to Yobe are the Minister of Defence, Brig-Gen. Mansur Dan-Ali; Minister of Information, Lai Mohammed and Foreign Affairs, Mr. Geoffrey Onyeama.
Said Mohammed: “Mr. President has directed military and other security agencies to take immediate charge and control of Government Girls Technical College, Dapchi, and inform him of developments.
“He has released a delegation led by the Minister of Defence to Dapchi, to get first hand information as to what is happening.
“Others in the delegation are Minister of Foreign Affairs and Minister of Information.’’
The minister added that the president had been in regular contact with the military and police over the situation in Yobe.
