The State of Osun Commissioner for Education, Mr. Folorunso Bamisayemi, has predicted that better days are ahead for all category of teachers and the education sector of the State in general, just as he charged them to work as a family to take education to a greater height.
Bamisayemi gave the good news during an interactive meeting with the executive members of the Nigerian Union of Teachers (NUT),
Association of all Nigerian Confederation of Principals of Secondary Schools (ANCOPSS), Association of all Primary School Head-teachers of Nigeria (AOSPHON) on improvement of education in the state, held at the ANCOPSS house, Osogbo.
The Commissioner apologised to teachers for working under unfavourable condition and promised that things will be better henceforth.
He further emphasized on the cooperation of teachers for the sake of posterity, saying all education stakeholders should be
on their toes to work out modalities that would liberate the sector with prayers and hard work.
Mr. Bamisayemi who said he was ready to listen to the agitations of teachers, especially on special teacher’s salary scheme, admonished them to be proactive, promising that there will be job protection while the potentialities and efficiencies of teachers will be measured.

Also speaking, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Education, Mr. Jamiu Olawumi, said there would be robust reward system for teachers and promised that salaries will be paid as and when due.
While reaffirming that, there will be training and re-training of teachers within and outside of the country, Olawumi appealed for maximum cooperation of teachers and disclosed that all their grants will be duly paid.
In his opening remarks, the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Education, Mr. Festus Olajide thanked the Commissioner for dimming it fit to have a familiarization meeting with education stakeholders in the state for smooth running of his administration.
He implored the stakeholders to state the way forward for settlement of all and sundry.
In their response, the Chairmen of the three teaching profession unions thanked the Commissioner and the Special Adviser for their prompt action in making it a priority to meet with them.
